Batavia Downs – Video Slots At A Veteran Track

you will find only video slots based on the lottery in NY

Batavia Downs is a racino — a harness racing track with a casino on the property — located in Western NY not far from Buffalo and Niagara Falls, near the Rochester area. Its Casino is open from 9am to 4am daily and has free parking. This veteran track opened in 1940. It is a half-mile track. The Western Regional Off-Track Betting corporation runs the gambling for Batavia Downs. The video lottery terminals (“slots”) were installed in 2005, 4 years after New York’s state lawmakers approved the granting of licenses for the gambling machines. Expansion has been continuing on the casino, with new restaurants and more gaming room planned.

Akwesasne Mohawk Casino: Review

poker tournament at akwesasne

New York’s northernmost gaming place, Akwesasne Mohawk Casino is Class III gaming, so it contains all that New York allows in a casino. It is of course Native American; recently the Mohawk Bingo Palace relocated and is now part of this one. There is a hotel and small RV park. The Casino just held its yearly qualifier tournament for the World Series of Poker, with the prize of a $10,000 seat in the Main Event of the WSOP in Las Vegas. Look for all kinds of other promotions, because this resort is likely to rev up its specials and games to attract gamblers from Canada and adjoining states.

What’s said about the casino: It’s a popular destination for blackjack players looking for a game with good odds. Many complaints are heard concerning low slots payouts, but the blackjack odds are better than nearby Canadian casinos due to Akwesasne’s Double-Deck Blackjack game, and the shoe games use 6 decks instead of 8.

What’s Nearby Hogansburg: St. Raphael’s Ruins in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. If you are up to running across the border for a look, this is a Great historical site and fascinating ruins of old Scottish church. When you get hungry you can try the highly-rated Truffles Burger Bar at 155 Pitt Street, Cornwall in the same area. There’s also Magiano’s Mediterranean Restaurant at 800 Cumberland street, Cornwall, Ontario, which is rated even higher.

Additional Information: You may be wondering, What is 4 card Poker? It’s a table game offered by Akwesasne which pits you against the dealer, like in blackjack. Each player is dealt 5 cards, and he must make the best 4-card poker hand out of them he can and discards 1 card. The dealer gets 6 cards, 5 dealt face-down and 1 faceup. The dealer discards 2 cards to make his hand.

This is an Ante poker game. You pay an ante to be dealt cards; you also place a bet on the Aces Up spot to begin. Aces in your hand are high except in the case of the hand A-2-3-4. After viewing your hand you must decide to fold or bet; you can bet up to 3 times the Ante. Best hands in 4-card poker are 4 of a Kind; Straight Flush; 3 of a Kind. If your hand is equal to or stronger than the dealer’s you win. If you made a hand, you win a Bonus even if your hand didn’t beat the dealer’s.

The Turning Stone Casino and Resort, one of the largest casinos in the state of New York that is permitted to operate table games, is owned by the Oneida Nation of Indians. It is well-known and a popular destination for visitors and tourists from other countries as well as other states.

{Class III Indian Casino with traditional table gaming.}
VERONA, NY 13478

Turning Stone has top quality entertainment and offerings all year round. It is located in central New York state and near wine country. AAA gives it the highest rating in its hotel accommodations and dining, and it is convenient to fishing & boating, golf and relaxation in the surrounding country. This is in the heart of very attractive spreads of territory, the Mohawk Valley and Adirondack Mountains. Here we’ll describe the basics of what you can find here. There is so much more, however, when you visit.

GAMING – THE CASINO: The property has over 2400 electronic gaming machines, and more than 80 table games. The casino is classified as a Class III Indian Casino and thus permitted to run classic casino table games. A poker room, Bingo hall, Keno lounge. Their poker room — which hosts state Holdem championships games, among other large events — is large and comfortable, has tableside food and beverage service, 12 large screen TVs to watch sports on, computerized waiting lists for players displayed on large screens. You can also book a seat in any of their big-prize poker tournaments by visiting

SHOWS: What you’ll never be disappointed by is the range and quality of shows scheduled throughout the year at Turning Stone Casino. This year, Barry Manilow, Randy Travis and Hugh Laurie of “House” TV fame are doing concerts in the showroom, for example. There’s a comedy club nightly, laser shows, more. I used to look up their schedule for some favorite oldies bands I can’t see ordinarily. It’s a favorite destination for out-of-staters if only just for the concerts.

DINING: Wine Spectator Magazine picked 4 of the Turning Stone Casino’s restaurants and awarded them the 2012 Award of Excellence. Those restaurants were: Wildflowers, a fine dining spot which was also given 4 Diamonds by AAA; the Pino Bianco Trattoria, Rodizio Churrascaria, and the Forest Grill, a steakhouse.

Wine Spectator’s award is for a dining place which offers a wine list of at least 100 high-quality vintages which must coordinate with the restaurant’s menu. The Turning Stone’s Director of Food and Beverage, Vince Farrar, explained that the wines offered in their various restaurants are both international and domestic, some from around the world and some from as nearby as New York’s Finger Lakes region vineyards. The local vineyards, for proud New Yorkers, include: grapes from Dr. Konstantin Frank, Hermann Wiemer, Lamoreau Landing, Bully Hill, and Hazlitt Vineyards.

There are at least ten restaurants, about half of them serving all three meals. Even fine dining at Wildflowers is available all day long. One of the featured cuisines offered is churrascaro, which is Brazilian or Argentinian style barbecued meats skewered and marinated in spices. It is served hot from the huge skewers, in multiple courses so you get to try different meats. Very appealing and considered some of the best dining found in the Americas. You can try it at the Rodizio Churrascaria.

There’s also a traditional steakhouse with the best steaks, chops, and lobsters from Maine. This is the Forest Grill, and it has a lovely copper-topped fireplace and elegant but cozy ambiance.

The Peach Blossom offers Thai-Chinese creations, very tasty and artistic; the Delta Cafe has hearty sandwiches and other wonderful foods all day; and Season’s Harvest will feed you foods sampling several different cuisines represented in the other restaurants — South American, Asian, etc. And for dessert, you can visit Opals and see absolute gems of confections and baking.

HOTEL: Of course you’ll want to stay. This is a resort, and no shortage of rooms. Choose between luxurious accommodations in The Lodge where all rooms are suites, rooms or suites with a view in The Tower, The Hotel, or a cozy stay in The Inn. Or if you brought an RV, there’s the Villages RV Park a short drive from the resort, with added recreational features of its own.

The grandest stay would be in The Lodge, which is connected to the Casino and Bingo hall as well as the Spa, Showroom and Event Centers, and the dance club. The Lodge’s dining room is the award-winning Wildflowers restaurant. There is a Fitness Center with pool too.

The Top Three New York Casinos

The only casinos you will find in New York are Native American Casinos as there are no others to be found.  While there are other types of gambling around the state, the casinos are owned and operated by local tribes.  There are not many casinos unlike other states or even Nevada where gambling is fully legal so it may be difficult choosing one that is a good fit for you.  You may be looking for horse racing or a casino that offers top notch dining.  Perhaps you want to have a spa located in the casino so you can be pampered after a hard day at the tables. The majority of the casinos are in what is considered upstate New York with a few also located on the coast but they are gaming boats not traditional casinos.  So what are the top five New York casinos and where are they located?

Seneca Niagara Casino

The casino is owned by the Seneca Nation Tribe which is a part of the larger Iroquois Confederacy.  They are also owners of the Seneca Allegany Hotel and Casino and other properties around the New York Area.  You can take your honeymoon at Niagara Falls and then stop in the Seneca Niagara Casino to do a little gambling or you can get a room here as well.  This casino has a great deal of extras above and beyond three thousand slot machines and one hundred table games for the gamblers.

The casino also offers a world class spa where you can get a massage or other spa amenities after a day of gambling or a visit to the falls.  There are top of the line shows including concerts, comedy shows and clubs where guests can dance the night away just like any casino in Las Vegas.  You can dine at one of the restaurants located in the casino before heading to a concert or show.  There is also a buffet that offers prime rib as one of its choices so there is no lack of great food when you stay here.

The casino itself offers a wide variety of table games, slots and video poker so just about anyone can find a game to their liking.  There is a poker room for those who want to play some Texas Hold’em or you can choose to play blackjack on the casino floor.  There are thousands of penny slots many which offer huge progressive jackpots.  Those who prefer video poker will not be disappointed by the selection of poker machines with all of the popular games like Double Double Bonus and Triple Bonus Plus.  If you want to have a honeymoon or just want to visit Niagara Falls, take the time to stop by or stay at the Seneca Niagara Casino.

Saratoga Casino and Raceway

This casino is located in Saratoga Springs and boasts over seventeen hundred slot machines.  While it is not on the size and scale of Seneca, it does offer some great benefits that more than make up for the lack.  Unlike most casinos, this casino is not open twenty four hours and instead closes at four in the morning and opens back up again at nine in the morning.  This is unusual for a casino as the majority of them never close but there is still plenty of time to gamble and hang out with friends.

This casino also offers many of the most popular slot machines that are found in Vegas and other gaming communities with large jackpot payouts.  There have been millions of dollars won in slot jackpots alone in the casino.  You can also find all the best in video poker games plus they have a top notch player’s club that offers those who sign up a hundred dollars in free play.  The only other casinos that offer such a high sign up bonus are located in the bigger gaming cities.

Not only can you play in the casino, but there is also a world class race track for horse racing which also offers betting on the winning horses.  Horse racing is a tradition that spans generations in Saratoga Springs.  These horse races are of the harness and buggy type, not like what you would find in the Kentucky Derby but many people find this type of horse racing to be exciting and fun to wager on.  All in all, Saratoga Casino and Raceway makes for a great getaway for those who want to have the casino fun while still having a chance to watch live horse racing when it is in season.

Tioga Downs Casino

Another casino that offers harness racing along with gaming is Tioga Downs Casino.  Again, you can play slots and then bet and watch live horse racing all in one place.  New slot members are rewarded with up to thirty dollars in free play which can be used immediately in the casino.  There are the best slots located here and the casino also has a high roller slot room where gamers can wager up to five dollars per spin. Those who have never bet on horse racing can place their wagers at the self service kiosks.

Many people like to play in tournaments rather than risk all their money at one time.  Tournaments take longer to play and often offer a much higher reward for no buy in.  These tournaments are only offered to those who have joined the players club and have earned enough rewards to be invited to play.  The Hot Slots game is the one that is used in the tournament and these run all the time.  Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been rewarded in just tournament winnings so this is one of the best promotions that is run by casinos in the New York area.

Those who are looking for a little more excitement can go to one of the many concerts or one of the Vegas quality shows.  There is entertainment every weekend with a variety of acts to choose from and many are family friendly so bringing the kids is not a problem.  This casino also has a wide variety of restaurants that are also family friendly including a buffet that is very cost effective at seven bucks per person.  Even the children can eat enough food to make it worthwhile.  There is also a sports bar and other bar that are twenty one and over but they do serve food too.

There are not many New York casinos but the ones that are there are top notch and offer just as many amenities as the big casinos in Vegas.  Even though these casinos are Native American owned and operated, they have just as much to see and do as casinos in other locations such as Atlantic City.  You check out live shows, watch concerts and see live horse racing and wager on it as well.  You can also get the full spa treatment in many of the casinos to relax you after a hard day of gambling.  If you want to get married and honeymoon in Niagara Falls you can stop at the Seneca Niagara Casino or watch the harness races in Saratoga or Tioga Downs Casinos.
